Gardening can be a challenging idea to grasp. Just create a shelter with a south facing wall which will become a solar collector, absorbing warmth in the day and releasing it at night, thus providing your specimen plants with the perfect environment!
Plant a new and different edible each week. Eating tomatoes or corn every day can get old real quick, but if a variety is planted, this problem will never happen. The garden can offer a wide variety of different edible plants and if they come to maturity at the same time the variety will make the garden more enjoyable and more fun.
Think about leaving some areas of your lawn uncut. Long grass provides a great habitat for beetles, young amphibians and grasshoppers. Grass is also an important food source for some butterflies and caterpillars. Gardens without wildlife would be very sterile environments, and most plants can't reproduce without the help of wildlife.
When mowing your lawn, be careful not to cut the grass too far down. Cutting your grass at a taller height allows grass roots to grow deeper and stronger, which helps lessen the chance of your lawn drying out easily. The shorter the grass is, the shorter the roots are, which leads to a dry lawn.
A good but unusual organic solution for weeding your plants is try "boiling" your weeds way. A pot full of boiling water is an effective herbicide, yet it is, chemically speaking, completely harmless. Just pour boiling water directly on top of the weeds cautiously to avoid damaging your plants. The roots of the weeds are damaged by the boiling water which, in turn, inhibits further growth.
Gardening is more about effort than anything else. Dedication to a garden, from its caretaker, will help it bloom to its fullest potential. The right way to grow a garden is by learning the correct way to go about caretaking for one. It is easier to maintain a garden than you think.
